KDE Plasma 6.7 and 6.6.1 Updates Bring Performance Improvements and New Features

KDE’s Plasma 6.6 desktop environment has been released to positive reviews and development is already well underway for Plasma 6.7 and the 6.6.1 patch release. The focus of the 6.6.1 release is addressing user-reported bugs and regressions introduced in Plasma 6.6.0, including fixes for KWin crashes related to intensive input method usage and issues with applications like Input Leap and Deskflow. Animation performance will likewise be improved through greater utilization of the Wayland Presentation Time protocol.

Plasma 6.7 is introducing several new features, including the ability to switch between virtual desktops in the Overview effect using the Page Up and Page Down keys. Wayland users will also have the option to synchronize stylus pointer movement with the mouse or touchpad.

Further enhancements in Plasma 6.7 include a redesigned print queue viewer application, offering support for multiple printers and print queues, while maintaining a familiar experience for single-printer setups. Users will also gain the ability to exclude specific windows from screen recordings using permanent window rules.

Plasma 6.7 will address display scaling issues by rounding scaling factors close to 100%, 200%, or 300% to these values, prioritizing performance and visual clarity. The update will also resolve visual errors in transition effects for users utilizing ICC profiles.
