Sevilla FC finalized several moves on the last day of the transfer window, including the termination of Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract. The Nigerian striker ended a difficult year in Seville, arriving on a free transfer from Leicester City but ultimately joining Middlesbrough for the second half of the season.
Just over 24 hours after his departure was confirmed, Iheanacho’s signing with Celtic Glasgow is now official. The historic Scottish club emerged as a potential destination late in the transfer window, and they secured the player’s services. This marks the third country where Iheanacho will play professionally as leaving Nigeria in 2014 at the age of 17 to join the Manchester City academy.
The deal is a season-long loan with an option for Celtic to buy. The transfer is contingent on international clearance, wich will be processed outside of the standard transfer window dates. Celtic will compete in the UEFA europa League, having been eliminated from the Champions League qualifying stages by Uzbekistan’s Kaira.
