King Charles Cuts Financial Ties With Prince Andrew
The relationship between King Charles and Prince Andrew has reached a new low as the monarch has reportedly stopped funding his younger brother’s living expenses at Royal Lodge.
According to a forthcoming book by royal writer Robert Hardman, serialised in the Daily Mail, Charles withdrew Andrew’s annual £1 million “living allowance” after the Duke of York refused to move to the smaller Frogmore Cottage.
Royal Lodge and Financial Support
Andrew reportedly signed a 75-year lease on the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park in 2003. Mr Hardman’s book, citing an insider, states that the Duke is “no longer a financial burden on the King.”
However, it remains unclear if this financial support will continue long-term.
This move follows reports from The Sun on Sunday in August that Charles was also ending private funding for Andrew’s security at Royal Lodge, which had been in place after he lost publicly funded police protection in 2022.
Adding further weight to the distance between the brothers, Buckingham Palace confirmed in July that Frogmore Cottage, the former home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, remains empty, despite Andrew’s supposed relocation offer.

These latest developments intensify the scrutiny on Andrew, who has been facing immense public pressure following the unsealing of court documents connected to the Epstein scandal.
