Poland Delivers Crucial Energy Aid to Kyiv Amidst Ongoing Crisis
Kyiv has received a importent boost in its efforts to combat ongoing energy challenges with the delivery of 90 generators from the city of Warsaw, Poland. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko expressed his gratitude to Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski and the Polish community for the timely and vital assistance.
The aid, delivered in two shipments – 59 generators last Friday and a further 31 – consists primarily of diesel generators ranging in power output from 10 to 64 kW. These generators are being strategically deployed to areas of Kyiv experiencing difficulties in restoring heat and power, providing critical support to essential infrastructure and residents.
“Kyiv received another 31 generators from the mayor’s office and the Warsaw community,” stated Klitschko. “This much-needed help is arriving during a critical energy crisis, and we are deeply thankful for the swift response from our Polish friends.”
This latest delivery builds upon previous aid provided by Poland, with Kyiv having received an additional 130 generators last week, funded by donations from approximately 60,000 Polish citizens who collectively raised nearly 2 million euros in just ten days. Klitschko highlighted his recent appeal to international partners for assistance in navigating the current emergency situation, emphasizing the proactive and generous response from Warsaw.
Looking ahead, Kyiv anticipates further deliveries of generators purchased with funds raised through ongoing charitable efforts in Poland. This continued support underscores the strong relationship between Kyiv and Warsaw, and Poland’s commitment to assisting Ukraine during this challenging period. The generators will play a crucial role in ensuring the continued operation of vital services and providing relief to Kyiv residents as the city works to overcome the energy crisis.
