Knicks Rally to Defeat Rockets in Thrilling Comeback
NEW YORK — The New York Knicks overcame an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit to secure a 108-106 victory over the Houston Rockets on Saturday night. Karl-Anthony Towns led the Knicks with 25 points, while Jalen Brunson added 20.
Game Recap
The Knicks, who had lost to the Detroit Pistons two nights prior, showcased resilience against the Rockets, who had been on a five-game winning streak. Houston’s Kevin Durant scored 30 points, and Jabari Smith Jr. Contributed 21, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Knicks’ late surge.
New York began its comeback with an 8-1 run early in the fourth quarter. After Smith hit a three-pointer, the Knicks continued their momentum, going on a 14-2 run capped by a layup from Towns, bringing the score to 99-97 with 3:32 remaining.
Brunson tied the game at 103 with 1:26 left. A crucial turnover by Durant, followed by an offensive foul, gave the Knicks possession. Brunson then hit a pull-up jumper to supply New York the lead. Durant had a final opportunity to tie the game with a 40-foot shot at the buzzer, but it missed.
