Liverpool Left-Back Kostas Tsimikas Closing In On Return From Injury
Liverpool fans have a reason to cheer as Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas is nearing his comeback from an ankle injury. The defender has been sidelined for the past three weeks, missing six crucial matches, after suffering a blow during a training session.
While the initial prognosis was optimistic, describing the injury as a minor knock, Tsimikas later faced setbacks. Spotted wearing a protective boot and using crutches, the 28-year-old’s return seemed delayed.
Tsimikas’ absence has significantly impacted Liverpool’s defensive depth, especially with Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley also dealing with injuries. Manager Arne Slot has had to rely on an already stretched defensive line during this busy period.
However, there’s good news on the horizon. Tsimikas has stepped up his recovery program, actively participating in outdoor training sessions at the AXA Training Centre on Thursday. Pictures show the defender performing dynamic running drills with the ball, demonstrating his forward progress.
While he’s not yet participating in full training sessions, Tsimikas’ progress suggests a return to the pitch is imminent. This news is a major boost for Slot, who has been managing his squad cautiously amidst a demanding schedule with games in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Youngsters Amara Nallo and James Norris have been drafted into the squad recently, but neither has featured in a competitive game yet. Slot remains cautious, prioritising experience in such crucial matchups.
Tsimikas’ return should strengthen Liverpool’s defense, allowing Slot to seamlessly rotate him with Andy Robertson. This is vital as Liverpool faces another five games in the next 16 days.

Adding to this positive news, Ibrahim Konate’s return is also anticipated soon, with the French defender expected to return to the squad before the month’s end.
Liverpool has been welcoming back key players. Alisson Becker returned to action against Girona on Tuesday, while Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are expected to be available for the match against Fulham on Saturday.
Conor Bradley is Liverpool’s only remaining injury concern, currently recovering from a hamstring injury but able to participate in gym work. Alexis Mac Allister will miss the Fulham game due to suspension but is expected to start against Southampton a week later.
Stay tuned for updates on Liverpool FC’s recovery and upcoming matches!
