Gelderland farmers protest with tractors, demanding less nitrogen reduction
Farmers in Gelderland are protesting today with their tractors, demanding adjustments to the current nitrogen reduction targets. They believe the measures are too drastic and threaten their livelihoods.
The protest began early this morning and is causing traffic disruptions in several locations across the province. Farmers are driving slowly on highways and have gathered at key intersections. They are calling for a more nuanced approach to nitrogen policy, taking into account the specific circumstances of each farm.
“we are not against reducing nitrogen emissions, but the current targets are simply unrealistic,” says farmer Jan de Vries, one of the protest organizers. “We need a solution that allows us to continue farming and provide food for the country.”
The farmers are particularly concerned about the impact of the nitrogen measures on livestock farming. They argue that the current regulations will force many farmers to reduce their herds or even close down their businesses.
The province of Gelderland has responded to the protest by stating that it is willing to engage in dialogue with the farmers. However, officials emphasize that the nitrogen reduction targets are necessary to protect the environment and comply with European regulations.
The protest is expected to continue throughout the day. Traffic authorities are advising motorists to avoid the affected areas and to allow for extra travel time. The situation is being closely monitored by the police, who are working to ensure public safety and maintain order.

# kröller-Müller Museum Exhibits Forged Van gogh
The Kröller-Müller Museum in the Hoge Veluwe National Park has begun displaying a forged Van Gogh painting,View of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer,as of yesterday. The museum intends to use the fake to illustrate the challenges inherent in authenticating artwork. The genuine Seascape is currently housed in the Van Gogh Museum.
“Finding out that one of your works of art is fake is a nightmare for any director. But we think itS important to exhibit the painting anyway. It is indeed part of our history,” stated museum director Benno Tempel to Omroep Gelderland.
The forged painting was one of 33 fakes circulated by art dealer Otto Wacker in Berlin nearly a century ago. Helene Kröller-Müller, a co-founder of the museum and a prominent Dutch art collector, was among those deceived.
## Troubled History
The Kröller-Müller Museum is internationally renowned for it’s extensive collection of authentic Van Goghs, boasting ninety paintings and almost two hundred drawings.
