Las Vegas ‘Dazzle Prom’ Celebrates Inclusivity and Community

Las Vegas, NV – The second annual Dazzle Prom, a Valentine’s season event designed for individuals with special needs, took place on February 13, 2026, at the Las Vegas Nevada Skye Canyon Stake Center. The event, born from the vision of Kyle Meservey, a member of the Las Vegas Nevada Skye Canyon Stake, provided a night of dancing, games, and connection for over 350 attendees and was supported by over 100 volunteers.

A Dream Realized: The Genesis of Dazzle Prom

Kyle Meservey, inspired by his love of dancing – particularly the “Cha-Cha Slide” – sought to create a prom experience accessible to the special needs community in north Las Vegas. He collaborated with community leaders, including City Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske, to bring his idea to fruition. The Church News reports that Meservey’s persistence was key to the event’s success.

Community Collaboration and Support

The Dazzle Prom is a collaborative effort, sponsored by the City of Las Vegas, with support from Councilwoman Nancy Brune, Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske, the Just Serve Project, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. National Today highlights the event’s focus on fostering a sense of community and belonging.

A Night to Remember

Attendees enjoyed a decorated hall with burgundy and white drapes and string lights, along with activities like cornhole, coloring books, and a photo booth. Youth volunteers served as “buddies” to attendees, providing companionship and assistance throughout the evening. One attendee, Benjamin Ray, shared how the community rallied to ensure he could attend, even covering the cost of a ride when paratransit services were unavailable. Ray, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age 13, expressed gratitude for the event and the support he received.

More Than Just a Dance

President Marc McRae, president of the Skye Canyon Stake, emphasized the event’s alignment with the Church’s commitment to serving others. He noted the opportunity to “mourn with those that mourn and comfort those that stand in demand of comfort,” and to ensure everyone feels valued and included. Jordan McRae, President McRae’s son, volunteered as a buddy for his brother, Braxton, who thoroughly enjoyed dancing to Taylor Swift.

Looking Ahead

The Dazzle Prom, now in its third year, continues to grow and impact the lives of individuals with special needs and their families in the Las Vegas area. The event exemplifies the power of community collaboration and the importance of creating inclusive spaces for all.
