Lil Durk’s Murder-for-Hire Trial Date Pushed Back Again

Rapper Lil Durk’s trial in the alleged murder-for-hire case against Quando Rondo has been postponed once more, with a new start date set for August 25, 2026. The latest delay comes after a hearing on Monday, February 23, 2026, in Los Angeles, where Durk is accused of conspiring to kill Rondo in 2022.

Trial Date and Co-Defendant Considerations

According to a tweet from Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon, the August 25th date is contingent on the judge not granting a motion from three co-defendants seeking to sever their cases from Durk’s trial. If the motion is granted, Durk’s team has indicated a desire to proceed with the trial sooner. The current date was established to accommodate the defense for one of the co-defendants, not Durk himself.

History of Trial Postponements

This is not the first time Durk’s trial date has been pushed back. Initially scheduled for January 7, 2025, it was first postponed to October 14, 2025, due to the complexity of the case. In September 2025, the date was moved to January 6, 2026 and then again to April 21, 2026, before the latest adjustment.

Allegations and Current Status

Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was initially charged in October 2024, the same day five other men were indicted in connection with the August 2022 killing of Saviay’a Robinson, a cousin of Quando Rondo. He has maintained his innocence. Durk was recently released from solitary confinement after spending five months in segregation allegedly for possessing an Apple Watch.

Additional Charges

Prosecutors have added additional charges against Durk, including one count of conspiracy, one count of using interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, and one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.

As of February 24, 2026, Lil Durk remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Los Angeles.
