Occupancy at Lombez Hospital Climbs to 80 Percent as New Building Project Advances

Patient occupancy in the medical ward of the Lombez hospital has risen from roughly 60 percent to 80 percent over the past year, the hospital’s supervisory board reported, in what officials called an encouraging sign that the new management’s efforts are taking hold, La Dépêche du Midi reported.

The board, chaired by Jean-Pierre Cot and attended by directors M. Mishalski and Mme Lairaud, reviewed the institution’s situation and the progress of its construction project at its latest meeting. The rebound in patient numbers does not erase the establishment’s weakened financial position of recent years, and restoring financial balance remains a major priority, the board noted.

The Gers departmental council has issued a favorable opinion on the file presented by the hospital concerning the multi-year investment plan for the medico-social component of the project. The plan must now win validation from the Occitanie Regional Health Agency (ARS Occitanie) through the regional investment committee, which will examine the overall investment plan covering both the health and medico-social components, as well as the financial sustainability of the future facility.

Ceiling and Paint Works Underway in Current Building

While awaiting the new construction, improvement works are underway in the existing premises, particularly on ceilings and paint, aimed at improving patient comfort and staff working conditions. The commune of Lombez said it intends to remain attentive to these files, with the goal of preserving a local public hospital service that is accessible and sustainable for the population.

Samatan Scanner Approved; Common Pharmacy Project Finalized

The board also discussed the CT scanner project in Samatan, which has received final approval from the ARS for the operating license granted to the company Imadol. In addition, the common pharmacy project is now finalized, as part of a broader review of how services are organized.
