Lucie Žáčková Receives State Honor at Prague Castle

Lucie Žáčková, director of the premature birth support organization Nedoklubko, received a state distinction from Czech President Petr Pavel at Prague Castle alongside 51 other honorees, Novinky reported. Žáčková accepted the recognition on behalf of her entire organization and the healthcare workers who support families of premature infants across the Czech Republic.

Personal Experience Inspiring Leadership

The director’s path to leading Nedoklubko began in 2010 when her daughter was born prematurely in the 25th week of pregnancy weighing less than one kilogram. The organization helped her navigate that crisis, prompting her to join as a volunteer the same year and step into the director role in 2013. November 13 marks 13 years since she began leading the organization.

National Support Network and Volunteer Work

Nedoklubko operates across the entire Czech Republic with a team of 28 women who visit nearly 30 hospital wards in cities including Prague and Brno. These volunteers are mostly mothers of former preemies who share their lived experiences with families currently facing similar neonatal challenges. Every mother of a premature baby in the country receives an information package from Nedoklubko detailing home care, alongside access to professional consultations and emotional support.

World Prematurity Day and Medical Training Innovations

The organization is preparing for World Prematurity Day on November 15, an annual event featuring landmark illuminations in purple to highlight the work of Czech neonatologists and nurses. Beyond public awareness, Nedoklubko contributes to prevention research and recently introduced a training program utilizing Paul, a specialized simulator mannequin for premature infant resuscitation and stabilization.
