Lufthansa Celebrates Centennial with Special A380 Livery
Lufthansa is commemorating its 100th anniversary with a special livery being applied to six aircraft, including the Airbus A380-800 registered as D-AIMH. The distinctive dark blue paint scheme honors the airline’s rich history and looks toward its future.
A380 D-AIMH Receives Centennial Paint
The Airbus A380-800, with manufacturer serial number (MSN) 70, underwent the painting process at Shannon Airport in Ireland. D-AIMH was flown to Shannon in January 2026 specifically for this purpose.
The aircraft, which first flew in July 2011 and was delivered to Lufthansa the same month, features a design incorporating the Lufthansa crane emblem, traditionally found on the tail, extended across the entire fuselage. The livery also includes the years “1926” and “2026,” marking the airline’s centennial.
Painting Process and Timeline
The repainting of D-AIMH took 34 days to complete, with a team of 35 workers covering over 4,000 square meters of surface area.
Fleet-Wide Centennial Livery
D-AIMH is the fourth aircraft to receive the commemorative livery, with Lufthansa planning to apply the special paint to a total of seven aircraft types across its fleet.
