Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair Launches Crowdfunding Initiative for Emerging Talent

The Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (KYOMAF) is initiating a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to run from July 10th to September 30th,aiming to secure 4 million yen – approximately US$28,000 – to bolster the event’s continued growth and,crucially,to provide direct support to up-and-coming creators within the industry. This year’s campaign centers around the theme of “investing in the future of manga and anime, cultivated in Kyoto.”

Funding Levels and Exclusive Rewards

The campaign offers a tiered system of contributions, designed to appeal to a broad range of supporters. Currently announced levels include options at 3,000 yen (roughly US$21), 30,000 yen (approximately US$209), and 35,000 yen (around US$243). Each contribution tier unlocks a series of exclusive benefits.

All backers will receive a commemorative postcard, a clear file folder, a shareable image for social media platforms, and a personalized thank-you email. At the 3,000 yen level, supporters will also gain access to a unique smartphone wallpaper. Increasing investment to 30,000 yen adds a signed commemorative board featuring Special Ambassadors Nobuhiko Okamoto and Manaka Iwami, a KYOMAF event ticket, a Special Ambassador-themed smartphone wallpaper, public acknowledgement on the official KYOMAF website, and a limited-edition acrylic keychain. The highest tier, at 35,000 yen, provides access to the fair’s closing stage event, a farewell message from Okamoto and Iwami, a KYOMAF ticket, the exclusive wallpaper, website recognition, and the acrylic keychain.
