Maryland Crematorium Owners Arrested for Mishandling Remains

Waldorf, MD – The owners of Heaven Bound Crematorium in Charles County, Maryland, Rosa Williams, 48, and Brandon Williams, 50, were arrested on February 20, 2026, for allegedly mishandling human remains, including those of infants. The arrests follow a lengthy investigation and the discovery of improperly stored remains at both the crematorium and the couple’s residence.

Investigation and Charges

Maryland State Police took the Williamses into custody after obtaining arrest warrants. Investigators discovered human remains, some cremated and others decomposing, inside the couple’s home as reported by 7News. The charges relate to the mishandling of the remains of at least eight babies. ABC3340 reports that arrest warrants were initially issued on February 19, 2026.

Previous Allegations and Crematorium Closure

Heaven Bound Crematorium faced misconduct allegations as early as 2017, with the Maryland Death Services Oversight Board identifying improper storage of human remains according to the Maryland State Police Facebook page. The business was shut down in January 2025 after inspectors found a broken cremation chamber and bodies decomposing in cardboard boxes inside a cooler that was overfilled as detailed by 7News.

Civil Lawsuits

In addition to the criminal charges, multiple civil lawsuits have been filed against Rosa and Brandon Williams 7News and ABC3340 reported. The lawsuits stem from the alleged mishandling of remains and the distress caused to grieving families.
