Max George Announces Heart Concerns, Will Spend Christmas in Hospital
The Wanted star Max George has revealed that he will be spending Christmas in a hospital bed after doctors discovered “some issues” with his heart. The 36-year-old singer shared the news in an Instagram post, accompanied by a photo of him giving a thumbs-up from his hospital bed.
George expressed that he is awaiting further tests to determine the severity of his heart condition and the necessary surgical intervention. While awaiting those results, he anticipates a “difficult few weeks/months.” In his heartfelt post, he wrote:
“Hey everyone, yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart.
“I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet.
“It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks/months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned.”
Despite the challenging news, George highlighted the unwavering support he receives from his “wonderful” partner, actress Maisie Smith, as well as his family and friends. He remains determined to tackle this new hurdle head-on, expressing gratitude for the early detection of his condition.
“Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back (sic), it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got. I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was.”
George’s post was met with an outpouring of well wishes from numerous celebrities and fellow musicians. His Irish bandmate Siva Kaneswaran offered words of encouragement, stating, “Here for you brother. Rest up and get well soon.”
JLS stars JB Gill and Marvin Humes also extended their support, praying for his speedy recovery and emphasizing his strength.
George rose to fame in the 2010s with The Wanted, achieving global success with numerous hit songs like All Time Low and Glad You Came. Tragically, bandmate Tom Parker passed away in 2022 after battling a brain tumor.
Beyond his musical career, George has ventured into television, appearing on shows such as Glee and The Wanted Life. He has also participated in various reality competition series, including Strictly Come Dancing and Bear Grylls: Mission Survive.
Earlier this year, George made his stage debut in the theatrical adaptation of Kay Mellor’s hit BBC TV show, The Syndicate.
We wish Max George a smooth recovery and a speedy return to health.
