Cardinals Drop Conference Match to St. Bonaventure, 50-25

St. Bonaventure, NY. – The Atlantic Rugby Conference (ARC) schedule continued for the Wheeling University Men’s Rugby team (3-2-1, 1-2-1) as they traveled to St.Bonaventure, New York on Saturday. The Cardinals took an early lead and held it through halftime, but a strong second half from the Bonnies proved to be the difference.Wheeling ultimately fell with a final score of 50-25, marking their second conference loss of the season.

The Cardinals had a strong first half, largely thanks to sophomore Panashe Mugorogodi, who scored all three of the team’s tries. Mugorogodi started the day with seven tries and quickly got the Cardinals’ offense going, scoring in the 10th minute with a run down the sideline. He didn’t stop there, adding two more tries before halftime. Taku Musingwini successfully converted two of three kicks, bringing the Cardinals’ total to 21 points. With this performance, Mugorogodi is now just one try behind teammate Alex Nyamunda as they compete for the single-season try record of 12, currently held by former Cardinal Dante Walters from the team’s first varsity season.
