Virginia Tech Students Gain Expanded Access too Microsoft Teams

Virginia Tech students will soon have increased adaptability in utilizing Microsoft Teams for collaborative projects. Starting august 29th, each student will be able to create or retain up to five Teams spaces, each with a storage limit of 1 GB. This change aims to provide students with dedicated online spaces for group work and activities.

New Teams Allocation for Students

The updated policy allows each Virginia Tech student to manage up to five Teams environments. This provides a dedicated space for different courses, projects, or student organizations. Each team will have a storage capacity of 1 GB.

Retaining Existing Teams

Students who currently own Teams spaces not claimed by a department will have the opportunity to retain up to five of them. A selection period will be open from August 29th to September 30th. Students with fewer than five existing Teams can create new ones through MyCAT (My Collaborative Accounts Tool) until they reach thier limit.

How to Access and Manage Teams

Students can manage their Teams spaces and create new ones via MyCAT. Further details and instructions will be released shortly.
