Boeing is Seeking Mid-Level Software Engineers – Simulation in Berkeley, Missouri

At Boeing, we are driven by innovation and collaboration to create a better world. We are dedicated to building a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive habitat for all team members, offering meaningful opportunities for professional progress. Join us and discover your future.

The Boeing Company is seeking talented Mid-Level Software Engineers – Simulation to join the F-22 Pilot training Vehicle Simulation Software team in Berkeley,Missouri. This role will be a key part of the Boeing Global Services (BGS) Software Engineering organization.

About the Team:

The F-22 Vehicle Simulation Team within BGS Software Engineering develops critical products used to train the next generation of fighter pilots, including:

F-22 Pilot Training Avionics simulation (PTAS)
F-22 Advanced Simulation Toolset (FAST) supporting the boeing Virtual Warfare Center (VWC)

These simulations are instrumental in the deployment and training for advanced avionics and sensor systems for the F-22 Raptor.

the Prospect:

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the long-term roadmap of the Vehicle Simulation team as a software Engineer. You will collaborate with users to define requirements and timelines, assist development teams in prioritizing enhancements, participate in technical design and code reviews, enforce coding standards, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a primary software developer.

Our engineers test their work daily in various simulation environments, including the desktop-based development Test Environment (DTE) and the Full Mission Trainer (FMT) cockpit, utilizing the Constant Resolution Visual System (CRVS) to create a 360-degree immersive visual experience.

Position Responsibilities:

led the design, architecture, and development of simulation models, virtual environments/platforms, and frameworks to improve software system performance, and reliability throughout the product lifecycle.
collaborate with stakeholders to define simulation requirements and system dynamics. Collect and process data for use in simulations. Lead the validation, verification, and refinement of simulation software code, models, simulations, test procedures, and test environments, and modeling against real-world data, test data, benchmarks, or other similar models. Lead the documentation and maintenance of technical code, algorithms, specifications, and descriptions of simulation models.
Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate simulation software with hardware devices and systems.
Lead the implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and methods in the software engineering simulation environment.
Lead the modernization, migration, sustaining, and updating of simulation software to adapt legacy systems to new operating systems.
Lead simulation software project management functions.

We foster a casual yet professional environment where multi-disciplined teams of engineers take pride in developing, integrating, testing, and delivering innovative solutions. We offer long-term potential for career growth into technical leadership or management roles and value the curiosity, tenacity, and imagination our engineers bring to our teams.

please Note: As part of the selection process, you will be required to complete a technical assessment. Failure to complete the assessment will disqualify you from consideration.

basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

5 years of experience developing in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems.
5 years of experience with Windows OS and Linux/Red Hat OS.
5 years of experience using Software Development tools such as Git, Bitbucket, MS Visual Studio.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

* bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution.Okay, here’s an analysis of the Boeing job description, broken down into Expertise (skills), Expectations (what the job entails), and Attributes (company details & requirements), as requested. I’ll focus on extracting the most significant details.

E – Expertise (Skills & Knowledge)

This role demands a very high level of technical expertise. Here’s a breakdown of key skill areas:

Software Engineering (Core): proficiency in higher-order programming languages (unspecified, but likely C++, Java, Python), assembly language, and auto-code generation. Strong API design, implementation, and testing skills.
Real-Time Systems: Deep understanding of real-time software architecture, design methodologies, target environments (processors, networks, communication protocols, electrical interfaces). Critical for simulation frameworks.
Modeling & Simulation: Experience designing, developing, integrating, and testing software models and simulations. Framework development is key.
Systems Engineering: Requirements derivation, allocation (system, sub-system, software), and traceability. Understanding of the full product lifecycle. Software Architecture & Design: ability to synthesize software architectures that meet complex requirements and constraints.
Testing & Verification: Designing and implementing complete software testing processes (unit, integration, system). Experience with integration testing tools.
Build & Integration: Knowledge of build and execution environments (hosts, processors, OS, networks). Ability to build, integrate, and troubleshoot software components. Familiarity with verification, validation, certification, and qualification processes.
Security: Strong understanding of security best practices and technologies. (Specifically mentioned)
aircraft systems Knowledge: A significant understanding of aircraft systems – weapons, night vision, mechanics, hydraulics, electronics, flight controls, etc. this isn’t just software; it’s domain knowledge.

E – Expectations (Job Responsibilities/What You’ll do)

Software development: the core of the role is developing software for modeling, simulation, and potentially real-time systems within an aircraft context.
System Integration: Integrating software components into larger systems and frameworks.
testing & Validation: Rigorous testing and validation of software to ensure it meets requirements and is secure.
Requirements management: Working with requirements throughout the entire development lifecycle.
Collaboration: Likely involves working closely with other engineers (systems, hardware, test) and potentially with customers.
