Story School Claims Milwaukee Middle School Coed Volleyball Championship

The Milwaukee Recreation Middle School Citywide Coed Volleyball Tournament concluded on Sunday, March 8, 2026, with Story School emerging as the citywide champion. The tournament, held at North Division High School, brought together middle school teams from across Milwaukee after a season of league play.

Story School defeated Nativity Jesuit Academy in a closely contested final match, winning two sets to one. The competition showcased the talent and dedication of student athletes from various schools, including Lloyd Barbee Montessori School, I.D.E.A.L. School, Highland Community School, Anna F. Doerfler School, Morse Middle School for the Gifted and Talented, Woodlands School, MacDowell Montessori School, Wedgewood Park International School, HOPE Christian School Semper, George Washington Carver Academy, and Milwaukee School of Languages.1

The single-elimination tournament culminated a winter youth sports league season organized by Milwaukee Recreation. Parents, coaches, and supporters filled the stands at North Division High School, cheering on the young athletes.1 Spectators purchased tickets in advance to attend the matches, which were initially held on multiple courts before the final rounds moved to the main court.

Milwaukee Recreation also offers various youth programs, including before- and after-school care at Lloyd Barbee Montessori School, in partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools.4 Milwaukee Recreation reintroduced a day school water safety program for third grade students at Allen-Field School, LaFollette School, and Lloyd Barbee Montessori School this spring.2

Recently, Milwaukee Recreation hosted a Cheer & Dance Showcase at North Division High School on March 25, featuring 11 youth cheer teams, including Lloyd Barbee’s cheerleaders.3
