Chris Ellery did not return home as planned from a boat trip at Fishguard, prompting a search

A massive search operation was launched off the coast of Wales after a keen photographer went missing at sea. Chris Ellery, a 54-year-old from Bristol, had set out on a solo trip from Fishguard on Thursday and was expected back the following day. However, his three-meter inflatable boat encountered engine troubles, stranding him in the Irish Sea.

Mr. Ellery managed to restart his engine after it broke down, but his phone also stopped working, leaving him lost and unable to contact anyone. He made it ashore in County Wicklow, Ireland, on Saturday and walked to a local police station.

Chris Ellery’s daughter has shared photos of her father and his boat in an effort to find him

On Saturday afternoon, police confirmed Mr. Ellery was found safe and well. “He came ashore in County Wicklow and took himself to a local police station where he contacted Dyfed-Powys Police and we were then able to get in touch with

his family,” a spokesman explained.

Mr. Ellery’s disappearance had sparked concern on social media and prompted a large-scale search operation involving an aircraft, RNLI crews, coastguard teams and police around Pembrokeshire, Cardigan Bay and St Brides Bay.

Mr. Ellery’s daughter Kenzie posted an appeal for help on social media. She described her father as a keen photographer and a caring porter. Police thanked for helping. “My dad is alive he has been found in Ireland,” she announced in an update on Facebook, expressing her relief.
