Petite Keep: A Memory Legacy Crafted by a Missouri Tiger

Lindsay Mullenger, a proud alumna of the University of Missouri, is taking her handcrafted memory trunks to the next level by appearing on ABC’s "Shark Tank." The aspiring entrepreneur, founder of Petite Keep, hopes to secure an investment from one of the show’s prominent investors while showcasing her unique products and entrepreneurial journey.

Mullenger’s inspiration for Petite Keep stemmed from a very personal need: finding a beautiful and functional way to cherish beloved keepsakes. Frustrated by the lack of stylish solutions, she began creating her own bespoke keepsake trunks, meticulously designed to preserve precious memories from weddings, births, and other life milestones.

"Our customers have brought us into some of the most vital moments of their lives," Mullenger explains. "They’re bringing us into these pivotal moments, and we want to bring them solutions that deliver on protecting these memories."

What began as a passion project blossomed into a thriving business, thanks in part to Mullenger’s unwavering determination and her strong belief in the value of handcrafted goods. Starting small, she operated from her home with the help of family and fellow Mizzou alumni, Mike and Dotti Durbin. Seeing the demand for her unique creations, she soon moved operations to a nearby warehouse, reflecting the impressive growth of Petite Keep.

Mullenger’s background in consumer packaged goods proved invaluable in navigating the direct-to-consumer market. "The direct-to-consumer space is a really special space because you own that relationship with your customers," she reflects. "I’m able to speak to them and hear why they’re coming to us and why they’re returning to us. " This direct connection has been key to understanding customer preferences and fostering brand loyalty.

The University of Missouri has played a pivotal role in Mullenger’s success. Her involvement in the Cornell Leadership Program, particularly the Tigers on Wall Street trip, provided valuable skills and networking opportunities that shaped her entrepreneurial journey. “Mizzou provided me with a solid foundation in business principles and instilled in me the values of hard work and integrity," she states. "The mentorship and network I built there continue to be invaluable assets.”

As Mullenger prepares to pitch to the Sharks, one thing is clear: Petite Keep is poised to make a lasting impact on the memory-keeping industry. Her dedication to quality craftsmanship, unique designs, and strong customer relationships positions her brand for continued growth and success, solidifying Petite Keep as a true legacy of innovation and heartfelt storytelling.
