Modest Mouse Announces New Single, “Look How Far…,” and Extensive 2026 Tour
Indie rock stalwarts Modest Mouse have released their first new song since 2021, “Look How Far…,” and announced a comprehensive North American tour kicking off in May 2026. The single features Janet Weiss, known for her work with Sleater-Kinney and Quasi, on drums.
New Music and Collaborative Spirit
“Look How Far…” is a characteristically wry observation on the state of modern progress, with lyrics including the pointed line, “Look how far we’ve come / oh my god we’re so fucking dumb.” Noise11 reports the track is available via Glacial Pace.
The addition of Janet Weiss to the recording marks a notable collaboration, bringing her established drumming prowess to Modest Mouse’s sound. Pitchfork confirms Weiss’s contribution to the single.
Recent Activity and Upcoming Performances
The release of “Look How Far…” coincides with the band’s 30th anniversary. In the five years since their last album, The Golden Casket, Modest Mouse have remained active, reissuing Good News for People Who Love Bad News on its 20th anniversary and touring with artists such as Cat Power, Pixies, The Flaming Lips, and Built to Spill. They also launched two new music festivals in 2025, including one held on a boat. Pitchfork
Beyond the extensive tour, Modest Mouse will also join My Chemical Romance for a special performance celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Black Parade in Milwaukee.
