Santacruz, a prominent weather monitoring station in the city, recorded a chilling 13.7°C, shattering the previous season’s low of 16.5°C set just days ago. Social media platforms buzzed with posts highlighting this unexpected plunge in temperatures, with many dubbing it the coldest December morning in Mumbai since 2018.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a mainly clear sky for the rest of the day, with the maximum temperature expected to reach around 32°C. While the cold snap may bring a touch of winter cheer, it’s a stark reminder of the fluctuating weather patterns across the country.
Air Quality Holds Steady
Despite the cold snap, Mumbai’s air quality remained “moderate” on Monday morning, recording an AQI of 112 as of 9:00 am according to the Central Pollution Control Board. While this level generally poses minimal health risks for most, individuals with respiratory conditions like asthma or allergies might experience mild discomfort.
