During a recent exclusive interview with Adventure Gamers, MVP revealed he signed a new long-term deal with AEW. He also discussed John Cena,Tony Khan, experiences with racism in WWE,and triple H.
His new deal with AEW and thanking Tony Khan:
“I want to thank Tony Khan, as I recently signed an extension and will be with AEW for quite a while in my current capacity, and hopefully beyond – in a managerial role and perhaps behind the scenes. I’m very happy with where I am in my career right now, being able to continue contributing to the business, making money with my friends, and entertaining at the level we still maintain. I appreciate Tony Khan for giving Bobby and Shelton and me the chance to get the team back together for one last run. The future looks luminous.”
His thoughts on John Cena:
“I have immense respect for Cena because his work ethic is second to none. Honestly, I never really knew Cena outside of work. I never got to know the private John Cena. He’s always ‘on,’ always doing something. And that’s praise – I’ve never met someone so fully dedicated to the company. We could be up all night with the boys, knocking out cases of beer and bottles of whiskey, and he’d be up at 6:00 AM to do media. You wouldn’t think he’d been going hard the night before. His work ethic… that guy was always working nonstop. So, professionally, he’s definitely in the pantheon of all-time greats. I feel like he was the Hulk Hogan of this generation, if not greater. He holds a Guinness Book of world Record for Make-A-Wish wishes granted to sick children. He always seemed like a cool guy, always treated me great, was always cool with me, and was a leader – a good dude. He kept his inner circle very small, was cool with everyone, but he was very wise about who he called friends or family and how he conducted his business.”
How Tony Khan is different from WWE:
“It’s very different because Tony Khan is a completely different human being, with a completely different personality. He’s just a nice guy and a good person. I never had any kind of relationship with Triple H. I was able to work with vince, and Vince knows exactly what he wants and how he wants to do it. If you can present something better, sometimes he’ll listen, but when Vince has a vision, that’s it. You go with it. There’s no second-guessing. Tony Khan is a lot more interactive and takes in more ideas. He’s more willing to be pliable with his vision and how he wants to present it, and what he’s willing to change. He’s just a nice guy. It’s funny, his energy level. He’s always happy, and I’ve never seen him be mean to someone. It’s a much different habitat than WWE, which was very corporate, very tight-laced, and for some people, even uncomfortable.People felt like they were walking on eggshells and were scared of getting fired.
