North Dakota State Extends Winning Streak to 21 with Dominating Victory Over UND
GRAND FORKS, N.D. — The North Dakota State Bison women’s basketball team continued its impressive run, defeating the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks 87-51 on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Betty Englestad Sioux Center. The victory extended NDSU’s winning streak to 21 games and improved their Summit League record to 12-0 overall record to 23-2.
Schiller Returns to Grand Forks
The game marked the return of NDSU guard Jocelyn Schiller to her hometown of Grand Forks, where she previously played for the University of North Dakota. Even as a few boos were audible during player introductions, the atmosphere was largely subdued, with a limited turnout of UND students.
“It was a little weird, I think, coming back,” Schiller said, “But as soon as the game started, I kind of forgot about everything and was just excited to play with this team.”
Bison Capture Control
NDSU quickly established control of the game, leading 39-26 at halftime. A 3-pointer by Abby Krzewinski just before the break extended the Bison’s lead. In the third quarter, a 3-point field goal by Schiller pushed NDSU’s advantage to 20 points, effectively sealing the outcome.
Collins’ Intentional Technical Foul
NDSU head coach Jory Collins received his second technical foul of the season in the second quarter, a move he described as intentional. “I get one a year and we were running out of games,” Collins said. “So I had to get one today.” He explained the technical was meant to refocus the team and prevent a comfortable lead from leading to complacency.
“I think we stayed calm and level-headed after that,” said Bison forward Avery Koenen.
Fighting Hawks Struggle
The Fighting Hawks, under first-year head coach Dennis Hutter, are still working to rebuild the program. UND recently suffered a 94-48 loss to South Dakota State.
Hutter emphasized the need for his team to compete for the full 40 minutes. “Compete for 40 minutes. Learn how to compete for 40 minutes… I think some kids do have the ability to maybe see it to the end, it’s what they’re learning real fast,” Hutter said. “And if you don’t have 15 of them seeing it to the very end, you’re going to be in tough situations.”
Schiller’s Performance
Jocelyn Schiller finished the game with 14 points, 2 assists, and no turnovers. She expressed her enjoyment of the rivalry game and playing with her new team.
“It’s a rivalry either way. Everyone was pumped coming into this game and so was I,” Schiller said. “I knew a few (of the players), but a lot of them are new and it’s just fun to play with a new team.”
Looking Ahead
NDSU will continue its Summit League schedule with a rematch against UND in Fargo in two weeks. The Bison aim to maintain their momentum and continue their pursuit of a perfect conference record.
