NFL Week 16 notes: Ravens conquer Christmas

Christmas Day NFL brought very nice gifts for several franchises, although there were some that will not have very good memories of these holidays. Everything is analyzed by the El Touchdown team on Radio Marca.

Baltimore Ravens. John Harbaugh’s team showed on Monday night what the best team in the NFL is today. The defense completely confused Brock Purdy, making his candidacy for MVP look like a joke, while in attack Lamar Jackson set the rhythm to which the Californian defense danced. One more victory on the next day and the path to the Super Bowl in the American Conference will pass through Baltimore this year.

Joe Flacco and Amari Cooper. On the first play of the game, the wide receiver caught a pass from the quarterback for 53 yards, setting the tone for what would be a historic afternoon. Cooper joined Terrell Owens as the only players with 200+ receiving yard games with three different teams, setting the Cleveland franchise record with 265. In Flacco’s case, his 368 yards and 3TD make him the Browns’ most productive quarterback this year…and it was only his fourth game.

Detroit Lions. Detroit’s victory in Minnesota gave the Lions their first division title in thirty years. They hadn’t won their group in so long that they had never done so in the current four-team format… which was established in 2002.

The AFC South. This week the group reaped defeats for each of its franchises. The Jaguars registered their fourth consecutive setback in Tampa, in just one month they have gone from fighting to be the number 1 seed in the AFC for the playoffs to directly not being able to play them. Houston really missed CJ Stroud in their game against Cleveland. The Colts opened their duel in Atlanta with a 75-yard touchdown… in their next ten possessions they added 187 yards and just one field goal. For its part, Tennessee failed to hold on to its fourth-quarter lead over Seattle, completing a dismal afternoon for the division.
