BRENTWOOD, LOS ANGELES — The son of famed director Rob Reiner was arrested and remains in custody after the stabbing death of Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, inside their Brentwood home on Sunday.
Nick Reiner, 32, was taken into custody on Sunday night and is being held without bail, according to the Los angeles Police Department. He has been moved to Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown L.A.
LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed Nick Reiner’s arrest and stated that he is the suspect in this double murder.
“We have our robbery homicide division handling the investigation. They worked throughout the night on this case and were able to take into custody Nick Reiner,” McDonnell saeid at an unrelated press conference involving the FBI on Monday.According to law enforcement sources, Nick Reiner was not at home when his parents were found dead. Investigators believe he left at some point after the stabbings. Sources tell ABC News that the LAPD was able to quickly find him near the University of Southern California, where he was arrested for murder.
Firefighters responded at 3:38 p.m. sunday to a medical aid call at a home in the 250 block of Chadbourne Avenue, according to the los Angeles Fire Department. the deceased were initially identified only as a man and woman ages 78 and 68 years old, the fire department said.
sources say the couple’s daughter was the one who found them.
