Rapper OJ Da Juiceman Arrested on Gun Charges Following Traffic Incident
Atlanta rapper OJ Da Juiceman, whose real name is Otis Whitfield Williams Jr., was arrested on March 15 in DeKalb County, Georgia, and faces ten charges related to a January traffic incident involving a Georgia State Patrol trooper. The arrest stems from allegations that he pointed a gun at the trooper during a roadside encounter.
Details of the Incident
According to DeKalb County Superior Court records, the incident occurred on January 28 on Interstate 20. A Georgia State trooper alleged that Williams repeatedly pointed a handgun at him while driving. The trooper stated that Williams initially tailgated and honked at him after merging into the HOV lane. Williams then allegedly passed the trooper, brandished a black handgun, and sped away recklessly.
Charges Filed Against OJ Da Juiceman
Williams is facing a total of ten charges, including eight misdemeanors and two felonies. The felony charges are Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Aggravated Assault Upon a Public Safety Officer, each carrying a potential prison sentence of 5 to 10 years. Other charges include Aggressive Driving, Reckless Driving, and Pointing or Aiming a Gun or Pistol at Another. WSB-TV reports that Williams was booked into the DeKalb County jail on March 16.
Defense and Alibi
OJ Da Juiceman is contesting the allegations. His attorney has filed a motion for bond, arguing that he is not a flight risk due to his community ties and prior adherence to bond conditions in a separate case in Coweta County. An affidavit from a woman who rented the Nissan Altima allegedly used in the incident claims that Williams did not have possession of the vehicle on January 28 and had given permission for another individual to drive it. TMZ first reported on this affidavit.
Current Status
As of March 24, 2026, Williams remains in the DeKalb County jail. His attorney, Terrell Dark, stated, “We are confident in our client’s innocence and in the legal posture of this case. We will continue to pursue all appropriate remedies to secure his release and expect that, upon proper consideration of the evidence, Mr. Williams Jr. Will be fully vindicated.” WSB-TV reports that authorities have requested incident reports from the Georgia State Patrol.
