OnePlus Watch 3 Debuts: Long Battery Life Meets Key Feature Roadblock
The OnePlus Watch 3 is officially here, aiming to build on the success of its predecessors with an impressive battery boost and new health features. However, enthusiasts hoping for full accessibility to this technology may be disappointed.
OnePlus touts a greatly improved battery life on the Watch 3, promising up to five days of regular use and even three days for heavy usage – a significant leap compared to previous models. The new watch also introduces an ECG reading function, a popular feature for health-conscious users.
But there’s a catch. This feature won’t be available in the US and Canada. OnePlus cites the lack of FDA clearance for the Watch 3’s ECG capabilities as the reason for this limitation. This means users in those regions will receive a version of the "60-Second Health Check-In" without the ECG component.
Despite this setback, OnePlus is aiming to launch this feature-limited version in the US and Canada during the second quarter of 2023 (between April and June). The company has been transparent about this limitation, providing users with crucial information before pre-orders commenced.
The OnePlus Watch 3 is now available for pre-order for $329 / €349 / £319, with shipping commencing on February 25 in some regions and early March in others. Keep an eye on your local OnePlus website, though, as pre-order discounts might be available in some areas.
