Israeli Soldiers Raid Home of Oscar-Winning Palestinian Director Basel Adra
Oscar-winning Palestinian director Basel Adra reports that Israeli soldiers raided his West Bank home, searching for him and examining his wife’s phone.
Adra told the Associated Press that Israeli settlers attacked his village on saturday, injuring two of his brothers and one cousin. He accompanied them to the hospital and learned from family that nine Israeli soldiers stormed his home while he was there.
The soldiers questioned his wife, Suha, about his location and searched her phone while thier nine-month-old daughter remained at home. They also briefly detained one of his uncles, Adra said.
As of Saturday night, Adra stated he could not return home to check on his family because soldiers blocked the village entrance and he feared detention.
Israel’s military stated soldiers entered the village after Palestinians threw rocks, injuring two Israeli civilians. They confirmed their forces remain in the village, searching the area and questioning residents.
