Overwatch 2 Season 18 to Introduce Keyboard adn Mouse Support for Console Players
Table of Contents
Starting with the release of Season 18 on August 26th, Overwatch 2 will officially support keyboard and mouse (KBM) input for console players. This update introduces seperate matchmaking pools to ensure fair play, and will require players opting for KBM to acknowledge a prompt before switching.
Separate Matchmaking Pools
To maintain competitive balance, Blizzard will implement two distinct matchmaking pools: a Mouse and Keyboard Pool and a Controller Pool. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/overwatch-2-retail-patch-notes-%E2%80%93-august-26-2025/977669
KBM Pool: Console players using keyboard and mouse will be matched with PC players and other console players using KBM.
Controller Pool: This pool will remain exclusively for console players using controllers.
Skill Rating and Progression
Players who switch to the KBM Pool will have separate skill ratings (MMR), ranks, and statistics from their Controller Pool performance. This means progression in one pool will not affect the other.
Aim Assist
Aim assist will not be available for players in the KBM Pool, aligning with the existing system for PC players using controllers. Players must actively choose to switch to the KBM pool via a prompt or through the Gameplay Options menu.
