Tropical Cyclone Alert: “Marce” on the Horizon for November?

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is closely monitoring a tropical cyclone-like vortex (TCLV) that has a “high chance” of developing into a tropical cyclone within the first week of November. This potential storm, if it forms, is expected to be named “Marce,” marking the 13th tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this year.

According to PAGASA’s latest forecasts published on Sunday, the TCLV is currently located over the southeastern boundary of the Tropical Cyclone Advisory Domain (TCAD) and could move closer to northern Luzon in the coming days. While currently too far away to have a direct impact on the country, the developing storm is being closely watched for potential developments.

“Model forecasts suggest that TCLV 1 will enter the southeastern boundary of the PAR with up to a high chance of TC development and will likely move closer to northern Luzon,” PAGASA said in its statement.

Aside from “TCLV 1,” PAGASA also identified two other TCLVs emerging over the eastern boundary of its monitoring domain. These systems, however, have a “low to moderate” chance of developing into a storm from November 10 to 16.

PAGASA had earlier predicted that the country might experience one to two tropical cyclones in November, underscoring the importance of staying informed about weather updates.
