As reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Navy initiated its prominent SEASPARK-2026 naval drill in Karachi with the objective of evaluating and boosting combat preparedness against traditional and evolving maritime dangers. The opening brief was presided over by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and attended by senior military officers.
Combat Readiness and Multi-Domain Operations
Exercise SEASPARK-2026 rigorously tests the naval forces by integrating ships, submarines, aircraft, unmanned systems, marines, special forces, and joint Army and Air Force elements, according to the ISPR. The drills focus on rehearsing multi-domain operations by combining maritime, air, land, cyber, and space-enabled capabilities. The military’s media wing stated that the exercise also incorporates operations in the information environment to secure a decisive advantage in the information battlespace alongside kinetic operations at sea.
Ahead of the formal opening, Admiral Naveed Ashraf visited Pakistan Navy Fleet units to review ongoing operations.
Recent Naval Operations and Regional Cooperation
The launch of SEASPARK-2026 follows a series of operational milestones for the Pakistan Navy. Earlier in the same month, a joint bilateral naval exercise wrapped up—highlighted by a five-day stopover in Karachi and two days of maneuvers in the North Arabian Sea—designed to strengthen maritime coordination and tactical compatibility between the Chinese and Pakistani fleets.
In May, the Pakistan Navy demonstrated its surveillance and response capabilities by assisting a stranded vessel in the Arabian Sea. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Mumbai issued a distress alert, prompting the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) to deploy PMSA Ship KASHMIR to assist the crew of seven, which included six Indian nationals and one Indonesian national.
