Ramala, Aug. 13 (EFE) .- Palestinian Foreign Minister, Farsin Aghabekian, supported on Wednesday the possibility that a group of countries- which could include France, Egypt, Turkey, Italy and the United Kingdom- form a “stabilization force” in Gaza, as well as that the UN constitutes a “peace mission” for the Palestinian strip.

In a press conference in Ramala, capital of occupied Bank, the minister explained the “action plan” of her executive for the Gaza Strip once the war is ended, which includes these two forces.

First, he advocated choosing a series of countries to create this “stabilization force”, among which he also mentioned Turkey and Jordan, nations that, he said, would be interested in participating in it, although he did not detail what he would consist of exactly.

His words come after the French president, Emmanuel Macron, advocated a few days ago for a “temporary international stabilization force” for the Palestinian territory, after the announcement of the Israeli government that he will take control of the city of Gaza, where he lives around one million inhabitants, who would be displaced from there.

On this aspect, the minister recalled that Israel currently controls 75 % of the strip and that, if before the Israeli offensive 5,000 people lived in a square kilometer, now do 50,000.

For the minister, Israel’s decision reveals that it is a “war against the Palestinians to leave Gaza inhabitable and displace their residents.”

Regarding the day after the war, it influenced the position of the National Palestinian authority (ANP, which governs the West Bank) that this entity must be the one that exercises the political and legal power in the Strip, an option that ruled out the Israeli prime minister, Benjamín Netayahu, stating that neither the ANP nor Hamas must be part of a possible transitory government of Gaza.

According to Aghabekian, who insisted that Gaza would have to be governed by a Palestinian executive and then summon elections, Hamas should not exercise the government in Gaza but to deliver the weapons, since “Palestine will not be an armed state,” and Israel would have to completely retire from the enclave.

The minister highlighted the fact that countries such as France or the United Kingdom have announced the recognition of a Palestinian State in September, in view of deaths and hunger in Gaza, something that considered it essential to advance on the path of the two states -israelí and Palestinian-, which sees still viable despite the Israeli refusal.

«There is no turning back on the path of recognition. The ship navigates and whoever wants to ride and navigate will be very welcome, ”he said to add that he knows that a dozen countries have also shown their interest in also taking the step.
