Parker Leads Govs to Win Against Spartans

GREENSBORO, N.C.- graduate forward Collin Parker led Austin Peay State University’s basketball team wiht 22 points, nine rebounds, adn three assists, but the Governors fell to UNC Greensboro, 87-79, Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Austin Peay (2-4) battled back from an early deficit, tying the game at 37 at halftime. Parker was dominant in the first half, scoring 14 points and grabbing six rebounds.

However, UNC Greensboro (4-2) came out strong in the second half, going on a 12-4 run to regain the lead. The Governors struggled to contain the Spartans’ offense, which shot 52.9 percent from the field in the second half.

Despite Parker’s strong performance, Austin Peay couldn’t overcome UNC Greensboro’s hot shooting and physical play. The Spartans were led by Mikeal Brown, who scored 23 points.

Austin Peay will return to action November 18, traveling to Oxford, Mississippi, to face Ole Miss at 7:00 PM.

Austin Peay State University defeated UNC Greensboro 78-72 on the road, earning their first victory in the series and improving their season record. The Governors were dominant on the boards,particularly on the offensive end,leading to crucial second-chance points. Collin Parker led all scorers with a season-high 22 points, marking the first time a Governor has surpassed 20 points this season.
