Nelly Korda Leads Patty Tavatanakit by Five Shots Ahead of Final Round at The Chevron Championship

Nelly Korda enters the final round of the 2026 Chevron Championship with a five-shot lead over Patty Tavatanakit after carding a two-under par 70 on Saturday at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas. Tavatanakit shot a three-under par 69 to reach 11-under for the tournament, while Korda stands at 16-under through three rounds.

Korda opened the tournament with back-to-back 65s to seize early control, building what was at the time the largest 36-hole lead in Chevron Championship history. Her strong start was fueled by exceptional driving and ball-striking on a course softened by heavy rains earlier in the week, which played longer and wider than usual.

Despite slowing on her final 12 holes Saturday — playing them in two-over par — Korda maintained her advantage thanks to a resilient performance. Tavatanakit, meanwhile, kept within striking distance with an impressive short game, hitting just 10 greens in regulation but relying on 25 putts to card her 69.

After her round, Korda praised Tavatanakit’s short game, calling it “pretty incredible” and noting the Thai star’s ability to make “insane up and downs” with a flow that made her chipping look effortless. “She looks very confident around the greens,” Korda added.

Tavatanakit, a former major champion, attributed her short-game success to feeling “really free overall” and said her sense around the greens has been a key factor in keeping her in contention.

With the final round set for Sunday, Korda looks to secure her third major title, while Tavatanakit aims to join an elite group of players with multiple Chevron Championship victories.
