Philadelphia was eager to welcome Paul George into the fold following a challenging 1-4 start.
Paul George Returns: 76ers Star Makes Debut Against Suns After Knee Injury
Paul George finally takes the court for his new team, the Philadelphia 76ers. After missing the first five games of the season due to a left knee injury sustained during preseason, George is ready to make his debut against the Phoenix Suns.
Coach Nick Nurse expressed optimism about George’s readiness, stating, “I think he feels good.” However, Nurse did mention that conditioning might play a factor, adding, “It’s more of the conditioning aspect, keeping his stints a little shorter. We’ll see how he is at halftime.”
The nine-time All-Star signed a hefty four-year, $212 million contract with Philadelphia after spending five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. His arrival is a major boost for the 76ers, who entered Monday with a disappointing 1-4 record.
Embiid Update: Still Out, But Showing Progress
While George is returning, another key player for the 76ers, Joel Embiid, remains sidelined with a sore left knee. Nurse shared a positive update on Embiid’s condition, saying, “He is doing a little bit better, making steps in the right direction.” Embiid will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.
The 7-foot center’s absence has been felt heavily, and his return can’t come soon enough for Philadelphia.
