“Machtwechsel” Podcast Moves to Studio Bummens, Apple Enhances Podcasts App

Robin Alexander and Dagmar Rosenfeld’s political podcast, “Machtwechsel,” has partnered with Studio Bummens, marking a new chapter for the program following its separation from Springer-Verlag at the start of the year. Apple is likewise preparing to revamp its Podcasts app with a focus on video podcasting.

“Machtwechsel” Finds New Home at Studio Bummens

The “Machtwechsel” podcast will now be produced by Studio Bummens and will release two episodes each week, on Wednesdays and Fridays. The move to Studio Bummens was supported by legal counsel from Sebastian Ott. To celebrate the relaunch, the podcast featured an interview with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Alexander described the podcast as becoming a “High-Complete-Produkt,” noting its new theme music reminiscent of “House of Cards” and an introduction voiced by Schlagerstar Roland Kaiser.

Apple to Revamp Podcasts App for Video

Apple is preparing a significant update to its Podcasts app this spring, with a key focus on enhancing support for video podcasts. The update will allow users to seamlessly switch between watching and listening to programs within the app. Features include horizontal full-screen viewing and offline playback. Apple also plans to implement automatic quality adjustment to ensure smooth playback under varying network conditions.

Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Services at Apple, stated that the update represents a “crucial milestone” in the evolution of Apple’s podcasting platform, building on its initial integration with iTunes twenty years ago and the launch of the standalone Apple Podcasts app over a decade ago.

RTL+ and Stern+ Launch Investigative Podcast

RTL+ and Stern+ are launching a new investigative podcast titled “Braune Kinderzimmer” (Brown Children’s Rooms) this week. The six-part series, reported by Angelique Geray, examines a right-wing extremist youth group in Germany. Geray spent eight months undercover, interacting with members of the group, which, under the name “Letzte Verteidigungswelle” (Last Defense Wave), planned attacks and violent actions.

RBB Radio Stations Gain New Leadership

Heide Oestreich will assume the role of Head of RBB radio stations radioeins and radio3 on March 1st, succeeding Dorothee Hackenberg who is retiring. RBB program director Robert Skuppin expressed confidence in Oestreich’s ability to manage the stations, highlighting her experience and passion for programming.
