Indonesia’s New Government Prioritizes People’s Welfare

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s new government, led by President Prabowo Subianto, has made improving people’s welfare a top priority for the next five years. Manpower Minister Yassierli emphasized this commitment, stating that the concept of welfare encompasses a wide range of factors.

Provincial Minimum Wage: A Key Component of Welfare

One crucial element in achieving this goal is the determination of provincial minimum wages, which falls under the Ministry of Manpower’s jurisdiction.

“Just like the hope of the President, welfare is number one (priority),” Minister Yassierli said at the Ministry of Manpower office on Tuesday.

Cross-Ministerial Collaboration for Comprehensive Welfare

To effectively improve people’s welfare, the Minister stressed the importance of collaboration across various government ministries. For instance, enhancing human resource quality through vocational education requires partnership with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

Reskilling and upskilling the workforce necessitates collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, manufacturing industries, and other relevant stakeholders.

“Regarding how we prepare human resources to work abroad, we also need to work together with the relevant ministry,” added Minister Yassierli.

Addressing Employment Challenges for a Brighter Future

Recognizing the complexities of employment challenges, the Ministry of Manpower is dedicated to finding innovative solutions to ensure President Prabowo’s vision and missions, including the Golden Indonesia 2045 goal, are realized.

Deputy Minister of Manpower, Immanuel Ebenezer, echoed this commitment, highlighting unemployment as a critical issue President Prabowo will prioritize.

“Our focus going forward will be on unemployment because this will be our big narrative going forward to safeguard welfare,” he stated.
