# Prem Rugby Eyes Wrigley Field for Historic Game in Chicago

Prem Rugby is in talks to stage a game at Wrigley Field in Chicago next season, marking teh first attempt to hold a match abroad as Saracens played Newcastle in Philadelphia in 2017.

The plan to host a game at the Chicago Cubs’ iconic home woudl significantly boost rugby union in the United States, which will host the 2031 Rugby World Cup.

Prem Rugby has rebranded the competition as the Gallagher Prem for this season, which begins with Gloucester’s trip to Sale on Thursday evening, and is actively seeking investment from America.

The title sponsor,Gallagher,is a commercial partner of Major League Baseball’s Chicago cubs and thier Wrigley Field stadium, which includes the area known as Gallagher Way.

Sources have confirmed that Prem Rugby has discussed taking a game to Wrigley Field during the 2026-27 season. This would coincide with the 100th anniversary of Gallagher,a Chicago-based insurance company. Both Gallagher and the Cubs are believed to be supportive of the idea, and several Prem clubs have expressed interest, despite the requirement to forfeit a home fixture.Earlier this year, Prem Rugby engaged the New York-based bank Raine Group and accountants Deloitte to attract new investors, notably from the United States. Raine Group previously managed the £520m auction for the England and Wales cricket Board’s The Hundred competition in January, demonstrating their experience in securing investment.
