## Prof. Wasswa Balunywa Granted Bail in Abuse of Office Case

Teh Anti-Corruption Court has granted bail to Prof.Wasswa Balunywa,former Principal of Makerere university Business School (MUBS),former Prime Minister of Busoga kingdom,and current Chairperson of Busoga Royal Concepts. He faces charges of abuse of office related to alleged irregularities in staff recruitment.

### Bail Terms

Prof. Balunywa was granted bail under two separate charge sheets. For the first charge sheet, bail was set at UGX 10 million in cash, with each of his sureties bonded at UGX 100 million (non-cash). On the second charge sheet, he was ordered to pay UGX 5 million in cash, with sureties bonded at UGX 50 million (non-cash).

Among those who stood surety for Prof. Balunywa were Owekitiibwa Osman Ahmed noor, the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom, who previously deputized Dorothy Kisaka, former Kampala Executive Director; Hon. Milton Muwuma, Member of Parliament for Kigulu South; and Ali balunwa.

### Court Conditions & Next Hearing

As part of the bail conditions, Prof. Balunywa’s passport and a land title for property in Bukoyo, Iganga, have been retained by the court. The case has been adjourned to October 15, 2025, at 9:30 am for further hearing.

### Balunywa’s Response

Prof. Balunywa has stated his innocence and pledged full compliance with all bail conditions throughout the trial.
