British Man Arrested Over Tweet Criticizing Hamas

A British man is facing legal trouble for something he posted online. He was arrested for a tweet. the content? A meme containing a curse word that criticized Hamas and Islam.

The arresting officer explained the situation to blogger Pete North. “basically, section 19 refers to spreading what we say like racial hatred. So you’ve posted something online that we believe is spreading racial hatred.”

North seemed confused. “Twitter, Facebook?” he asked.

The officer responded, “Well, I can’t explain too much. Its just to give you the context beforehand.”

“What, you’re taking me away now?” North questioned.

“Yes,so you’re under arrest…” the officer confirmed.

“In the middle of the night, over a tweet?” North exclaimed, clearly shocked.

“I am, unfortunately…” the officer replied.

WATCH: CBN’s Raj Nair and Billy Hallowell break down the story

Billy Hallowell pointed out a concerning trend. “This raises real questions about free speech in the UK. We’ve seen ongoing issues with arrests for silent prayer and debates over abortion buffer zones. Now, someone’s being detained for a meme they shared on X. It’s incredibly troubling to hear the shock in this man’s voice.”

Hallowell continued,”What’s especially striking is that the police seem most concerned with the comment about Hamas. They flagged that first. The meme also mentioned Islam and other topics, but Hamas appeared to be their initial focus. Why is that?”
