Continue Arcades Set to Bring Retro Gaming Experience to Derby City Centre

Derby is poised to welcome a new retro gaming arcade, Continue Arcades, to its city centre. The venue, planned for a location on East Street, promises a modern, family-friendly leisure experience with classic arcade games, consoles, and more.

What to Expect at Continue Arcades

Continue Arcades will offer a cashless gaming experience, with customers paying an entry fee for unlimited access to a variety of games. The arcade will feature classic retro arcade cabinets, pinball machines, console gaming stations, as well as popular games like pool and air hockey. According to the Derby Telegraph, the venue will not include any gambling facilities, betting activities, or cash prizes.

Location and Building Details

The proposed arcade will be located at 24-26 East Street, near the entrance to the Derbion shopping centre. The 4,600-square-metre building currently operates as a pop-up store. Green Sole Entertainment, the company behind Continue Arcades, has submitted plans to Derby City Council to change the building’s use. The application includes provisions for installing toilets and modifying the building’s layout.

Operational Details

Continue Arcades is expected to operate seven days a week, with the following hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 11am to 9pm
  • Saturday: 10am to 11pm
  • Sunday: 11am to 8pm

The arcade is projected to create two full-time and two part-time positions. The Derby Telegraph reports that a spokesperson for Continue Arcades expressed their hope to open the venue this summer, bringing a sense of “nostalgia” to the high street.

About Continue Arcades

Continue Arcades currently operates locations in Plymouth, Taunton, and Swansea, offering a similar free-play arcade experience. Their website details options for parties and events, including arcade tables, pinball, racers, shooters, pool, and air hockey.
