Green’s Rising Star

The deal, which includes a third-year player option, reflects Green’s impressive development in his first three seasons with the Rockets. The 22-year-old was selected second overall in the 2021 NBA Draft. He’s averaged 19.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 42.1% from the field and 33.7% from beyond the arc.

Part of a Young Core

Green’s extension comes shortly after teammate Alperen Şengün also agreed to a five-year, $185 million deal with the Rockets. The duo joins a promising young core that includes Jabari Smith Jr., Amen Thompson, and rookie Reed Sheppard. With veterans Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks added to the mix, the Rockets are aiming for a playoff berth in the competitive Western Conference.

Looking Ahead

The Rockets will tip off their season on Wednesday against the Charlotte Hornets. With Green locked in for the long haul, the future looks bright in Houston.
