Rory Delargy’s ITV Racing Tips: November 2, 2024
Rory Delargy provides his expert insights and betting tips for Saturday’s ITV Racing coverage, featuring races from Ascot, Wetherby, Down Royal, and beyond. Delargy offers analysis on each race, highlighting his selections and reasoning behind his choices.
Here’s a breakdown of Rory’s ITV Racing tips for November 2, 2024:
13:30 Ascot – Leader In The Park (NAP)
Delargy’s NAP goes to Leader In The Park, highlighting his potential for success over fences.
“A £250k purchase when winning his sole point-to-point in Ireland, Leader In The Park ran well in a limited campaign over hurdles last season. A mark of 121 over fences may underestimate his chances over larger obstacles which he looks tailormade for. His stablemate Bad may chase him home.”
13:50 Wetherby – Take No Chances
Delargy favors Take No Chances in the 2m Listed Hurdle at Wetherby.
“Nicky Henderson’s Luccia is a short-priced favourite, but there’s been a few of the Seven Barrows runners pulled up recently, and that’s not a great sign. It’s not much of a betting race for me but Take No Chances looks a mare who’ll improve this season.”
14:05 Ascot – Martador
Delargy suggests Martador as a solid option in the 2m1f Handicap Chase.
“Grade 1 Aintree Novices’ Chase runner-up Master Chewy starts life in handicaps off a mark of 154. But, Venetia Williams’ runners usually take off at this time of year and Martador – who won his last three races in the Spring – looks the solid option.
14:22 Wetherby – Sandor Clegane
Delargy believes Sandor Clegane is the one to beat in the 3m Grade 2 Hurdle.
“Sandor Clegane can go well and this looks like a target rather than a prep. He’s been off the track for 186 days, but on the ratings, he looks the one to beat. He may be a Stayers Hurdle candidate in time. Dashel Drasher is admirable, but is an 11-year-old now.”
14:40 Down Royal – Envoi Allen
Delargy’s pick for the Grade 1 Chase at Down Royal is Envoi Allen.
This race offers a strong card, but Delargy’s confidence lies with Envoi Allen.
14:58 Wetherby – Conflated
Delargy suggests Conflated as a potential winner of the 3m Grade 2 Chase.
“The Charlie Hall Chase is the feature race at the track and I’m against Bravemansgame who hasn’t won in seven races. He may be regressing and struggles to make his mark at the top level. There’s a doubt over Grey Dawning as the ground is good and he’ll want it softer. Conflated was unlucky to lose his rider at the first fence at Punchestown last month, and has the back class to win this. He may be a little over-priced. The one doubt is the Aintree Grand National being a longer-term aim and he may look to drop a few lbs in the handicap.”
15:15 Ascot – Jour D’Evasion (Each Way – Nap)
Delargy’s Each Way Nap goes to Jour D’Evasion in the 1m7f Handicap Hurdle.
“A tricky competitive handicap hurdle where Jour D’Evasion looks a little overpriced and is my each-way nap. Henry Daly’s five-year-old won once over hurdles last season and hit the frame in most. He’s been beaten by decent performers, who are progressing, and his opening mark of 112 looks workable as the stable are in decent form and Charlie Deutsch is a notable booking.”
15:45 Ascot – Amirite
Delargy’s final selection is Amirite in the 3m Handicap Chase.
“An open-looking 3m handicap with a nice pot up for grabs. Chianti Classico sets the standard, but Irish raider Amirite looks the answer to me. He’s on a bit of a losing run, but the better ground here will help. The Henry de Bromhead stable is in fine form and he’s slightly lower in the ratings in the UK than in Ireland. His price is just about ok given his overall profile to have an interest.”
