Rui Hachimura analyzes Lakers‘ Defeat to Suns

Rui Hachimura openly assessed the Los Angeles Lakers’ clear defeat against the phoenix Suns, emphasizing how a disparity in energy and preparation impacted the game from the start.

🇯🇵 Rui hachimura: “I don’t remember when I had the ball”

The back-to-back schedule and the physicality of the suns, according to the Japanese player, created a noticeable gap in intensity and responsiveness. “They came out more ready than us. It was the second game of a back-to-back and we weren’t as prepared as we should have been. They played harder and more cohesively, and because of that, they took control of the game.”

However, Hachimura stressed the importance of not dwelling on the performance. “It’s a long season.Games like this can happen. We shouldn’t think about it too much; we need to put it behind us, rest, and prepare for the next one. Sometimes you just need a game like this to reset.”

Turnovers (21) were a key issue, which Hachimura connected to teammates’ ability to move effectively and support the primary ball handlers. “We have to trust each other. Luka and AR always have the ball and attract a lot of attention. Defenses try to double them, and the rest of us have to be in the right spots, ready to shoot or create the next opportunity.”

acknowledging the difficulties, Rui recalled how the team has recently built its identity through ball movement: “We’ve played great so far… but today we didn’t really play for each other.”

Hachimura also commented on his unusual game, which concluded with only one shot attempt. “I don’t even remember when I had the ball, but it’s part of the game, and I knew that when I chose to be here. But everyone on the team knows that we can’t win like this.In the games we won, we passed the ball to each other, we trusted each other. It was tough for me, but it’s one of those games you forget and just move on from.”
