Samantha Irvin recently surprised fans by announcing her departure from WWE. While the news was met with mixed reactions, some fans directed their frustration towards her fiancé, Ricochet, unjustly blaming him for her decision. This led to a heated exchange on social media where Irvin had to defend herself against accusations of being a “gold digger.”

A Rocky Start to the Departure

The couple, who have been together since 2021 and announced their engagement in January 2022, have always been vocal about their support for each other. Many consider them the quintessential power couple in professional wrestling. However, after Irvin’s departure, a wave of negativity targeted Ricochet, with some fans expressing concern that he might be a negative influence on her career.

Irvin’s Desire for a Different Path

Irvin clarified her reasons for leaving WWE, stating that announcing wasn’t her true passion. She had aspirations of managing talent or even taking on a General Manager role. In a tweet, she revealed:

“I don’t like announcing. I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action, but I don’t love being an announcer.”

Firing Back at the Critics

When a fan on Twitter accused her of being a gold digger, citing Ricochet’s millionaire status, Irvin swiftly shut down the accusation:

“Kind of doesn’t work when you were with them before they became a millionaire”

Irvin explained that the comment was a direct response to the constant criticism her husband faces, with people suggesting their relationship wouldn’t last and that he wasn’t “man enough” for her. She emphasized Ricochet’s unwavering support and love, highlighting his success and her pride in him.

“I said it because people dog my husband every day. Say they hope we break up, say he isn’t man enough for me. But he is the one who cares for me, supports me. He is successful. I am proud. I love him. He knows this. Don’t be mad cause I’m gonna get him to take me to see Whoopi as Miss Hannigan in Annie in NYC for my birthday”

She further revealed that it was actually Ricochet who encouraged her to leave WWE if she wasn’t happy, stating, “Honey, I’m a millionaire. You don’t have to go to work anymore if you don’t enjoy announcing.” Irvin happily agreed, acknowledging that she would miss having the best seat in the house and watching her colleagues perform:

“He said it first. He actually told me, “honey I’m a millionaire. You don’t have to go to work anymore if you don’t enjoy announcing” I said omg yas. But I will miss having the best seat in the house and watching my colleagues kick ass. ❤️”

Focusing on Music

Irvin’s decision to leave WWE comes as she focuses her energy on her music career. While she won’t be seen in AEW or professional wrestling anytime soon, her unwavering support for her husband remains constant.
