Paramount’s slasher sequel “Scream 7” has become the highest-grossing installment in the long-running franchise, earning $176.9 million worldwide, surpassing the original 1996 “Scream” ($173 million) and “Scream 2” (1997, $172 million) – figures not adjusted for inflation.1 The film’s success includes $70.4 million internationally and $106.5 million domestically.1 The return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, after sitting out the previous film due to a salary dispute, is cited as a key factor in the strong box office performance, alongside the enduring popularity of the horror genre.1

Hamnet Crosses $100 Million Mark

Chloe Zhao’s Shakespearean tragedy “Hamnet” has exceeded $100 million globally, reaching $100.6 million, with $75.2 million internationally and $24.1 million in North America.2 Released by Focus Features in the U.S. And Universal internationally, the film, nominated for eight Academy Awards, has achieved impressive results despite challenges for arthouse releases. Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal star as Agnes and William Shakespeare, respectively, portraying their grief over the loss of their son.

Reminders of Him Opens Strong

Universal’s romantic drama “Reminders of Him” debuted with $10 million from 56 international markets.2 The film, based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, performed even better domestically, earning $18.2 million, bringing its global total to $28.2 million. With a production cost of $25 million, this represents a solid opening.2

“Reminders of Him” tells the story of a single mother returning home after serving a five-year prison sentence. This is the third novel by Colleen Hoover to be adapted for the big screen, following the commercial successes of 2024’s “It Ends With Us” ($350 million) and 2025’s “Regretting You” ($90 million), both of which appealed to a female demographic.2 Hoover’s next theatrical adaptation, “Verity,” starring Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway, is slated for release in October from Amazon MGM.

Hoppers Continues to Lead Internationally

Disney and Pixar’s “Hoppers” maintained its position as the No. 1 international box office earner, adding $31 million from 45 territories in its second weekend.2 The animated adventure has generated $77.9 million overseas and $164 million globally against a $150 million budget. “Hoppers” is poised to be Pixar’s first original hit since 2017’s “Coco.”

The Bride! Struggles at the Box Office

Jessie Buckley’s latest film, “The Bride!”, has faced a challenging run, adding $1.7 million from 70 markets in its second weekend.2 With negative reviews and audience reception, “The Bride!” has earned a total of $9.7 million overseas and $21 million worldwide. Warner Bros. Is expected to incur significant losses on the $90 million production and $65 million marketing budget for the 1930s reimagining of “The Bride of Frankenstein.”
