Seahawks Trade for Ernest Jones IV, Send Jerome Baker to Titans

In a surprising move before the NFL trade deadline, the Seattle Seahawks have acquired linebacker Ernest Jones IV from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for linebacker Jerome Baker and a fourth-round pick, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson.

This trade marks the second major move for the Titans this week, as they are also finalizing a deal to send wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

For Jones, this will be his second trade this year. The Titans acquired him from the Los Angeles Rams in August, alongside a 2026 sixth-round pick, in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick.

Linebacker Duo Shuffle

Jones, 24, has been a key contributor for the struggling Titans, tallying 44 tackles this season and second on the team. Baker, who joined the Seahawks this season, has recorded 37 tackles and a sack for the NFC West leading team.

Baker is expected to step into Jones’s starting role with the Titans, while Jones is projected to start alongside kenny Murray Jr. for the Seahawks.

Both Jones and Baker are scheduled to hit free agency at the end of the season. The Seahawks have expressed interest in retaining Jones beyond this year, according to Henderson.

Career Stats

Jones has compiled 364 tackles in four seasons in the NFL. Baker, who spent the first six years of his career with the Miami Dolphins, has amassed 624 tackles and 23.5 sacks.
