Seahawks vs Rams: Injury Update – Metcalf and Fant Out, Fant Returning?
The Seattle Seahawks have released their injury report ahead of their crucial NFC West showdown against the Los Angeles Rams at Lumen Field on Sunday. The news isn’t all positive for the Seahawks, as star receiver DK Metcalf and tight end Noah Fant have both been ruled out.
Metcalf Remains Sidelined
Metcalf will miss his second consecutive game due to a Grade 1 MCL sprain sustained against the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 20. Despite coach Mike Macdonald expressing optimism earlier in the week, Metcalf hasn’t practiced since the injury and requires more time to recover. Macdonald is hopeful Metcalf will return after the Seahawks’ bye week in Week 10.
Fant’s Groin Injury to Keep Him Out
Tight end Noah Fant sustained a groin injury earlier this week and will also be out for Sunday’s game. Coach Macdonald indicated Fant’s recovery will take time, and it’s unclear if he will be available after the bye week. The Seahawks don’t anticipate placing him on injured reserve.
Potential Good News on the Offensive Line
There is some positive news on the offensive line. Right tackle George Fant (knee) has been practicing for the past two weeks and is listed as a full participant, coach Macdonald said he “looks really good.” While Macdonald didn’t confirm if Fant would be active on Sunday, the lack of a game designation suggests he’s healthy enough to play.
Other Players Questionable and Ruled Out
Linebacker Ernest Jones IV (neck), who joined the Seahawks in a trade last week, is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Nose tackle Cameron Young (knee) has been ruled out. The Seahawks are also waiting on the return of outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (quad) and safety Rayshawn Jenkins (hand) from injured reserve.
Seahawks-Rams Matchup
The Rams (3-4) are currently one-point road favorites for the matchup, according to ESPN BET.
